Behaviour Modification

Using selected Profiles for People surveys, you can find ways to use Behaviour Modification to induce change. Once you become aware of ‘cues, triggers and payoffs’ that drive personal and group behaviours, you can plan and then act to influence the way people behave.

Behaviour Modification uses a range of interventions to influence the behaviours of one or more persons, often without them being aware. In this short clip from The Big Bang Theory, Penny is influenced, unknowingly, to change her behaviour as she innocently accepts calculated treats from Sheldon:

Behaviour Modification can be complementary to Behaviour Modelling, but there are marked differences between the two. Modelling is entirely overt while modification is often covert, and may be regarded as manipulative and demeaning. Ethical standards are an important consideration for covert techniques.
